Many people know the meaning phishing, modifying a site and sending the link to the victim where their login information can be stolen. But on their process its believed that they hid a malicious malware withing the links or attachment that will give the attackers full control of the victim system.
 
Steps to counter yourself from being 'spearphished'
1) Enabling a two-factor authentication
2) Encrypt your internet traffic
3) Tighten up your password security
